When we think about batteries we don't realize the size of the importance and responsability the have, but we can compare for example with a parachute in an airplane flight, where we don't check the conditions of the parachute only when the plane is alredy falling rigth? Likewise in a power substation or in any direct current system, batteries must be monitored and checked periodically and preventively to avoid the risk of failure when they need to be activated.

When we talk about critical power supply systems, we're talking about safety and that is why batteries are so important. Operation stops in some places, such as in data center, can generate immeasurable losses. In these locations, the managed data must be secure and monitored at al times, and therefore the use of UPS is essential and must be continuous, as this system will guarantee the availability and security of the data.

Another place of extreme importance are hospitals where the lack of energy can cause damage to both the hospital and the patients. In these cases, an unexpected stop or circuit shutdown due to battery failure could cause death.

Batteries used in critical direct current systems, in addition to being continuously in fluctuation, must be monitored through voltage, temperature and internal resistance measurements in order to identify possible failures preventively.
